Guatemala Santa Felisa Natural SL28
Established in 1904, Santa Felisa Farm upholds its founding values of integrity, quality, loyalty, and justice. Now managed by the fourth-generation siblings under the guidance of agronomist, ecologist, and Q-Grader Anabella Meneses, Santa Felisa is a multi-year Cup of Excellence winner, including 1st place in 2017.
The SL28 coffee variety, originating in Kenya, is known for its grapefruit-like brightness, savory sundried tomato notes, and syrupy body. It is prized for its disease and drought resistance despite lower yields. The Acatenango Valley’s ideal conditions include cool morning breezes from the Sierra Madre Mountains, warm sunny days, and cool nights from Pacific Ocean winds, which help cherries concentrate sugars for dense, sweet beans.
Santa Felisa stands out by planting rare varieties like SL28 and implementing Anabella’s Precise Agriculture, which emphasizes ecological sustainability and community involvement. All coffee is shade-grown to prioritize biodiversity, harvested at 18 to 23 brix for optimal ripeness, and dried on African beds. Anabella ensures a gentle and uniform process enhances flavors through the farm’s natural microorganisms.
